The farm machinery is humming and the ovens are hot as we celebrate sights, sounds and smells of bringing in the harvest! Learn how to bake bread (and sample a slice!), make butter, and soap. And try out homemade lemonade. Buy fresh baked bread, and other home-baked goodies like pies and cookies, as well as preserves and produce from the Farmer's Market. Plowing, seeding, threshing and binding are a few of the fieldwork demonstrations. Visitors can try their hand at stooking, grinding grain, flailing, winnowing or being part of a “human plow.” More than 40 pieces of vintage agricultural machinery representing the changes in farm technology from 1900 through to the 1960's will be operating and on display. The line up of machine power includes tractors, threshers, binders, swathers, separators, combines, plows, rakes, balers and stationary engines. And see those true giants of the field, the massive steam traction engines, in action! ------------------------------------------ |
