Recognition

People give many things to Reynolds-Alberta Museum. They give their treasured cars, tractors and planes, their time, energy and enthusiasm, and their in-kind or financial support. We would like to thank each of them.

These gifts fall into one of three categories:

  • Donor – donations to the collections of Reynolds-Alberta Museum and/or the museum at large.
  • Sponsor – contributions of financial assistance, labour and/or goods towards a specific museum program, project, activity or event.
  • Volunteer – an individual who has volunteered their time, energy and skills to the museum.

Recognizing each contribution, in an appropriate manner, is very important to us. Reynolds-Alberta Museum achieves this in a variety of ways.

 Gears

The gear recognition system is unique to Reynolds-Alberta Museum. The gears are displayed in the Recognition Hall and recognize contributions of our Donors, Sponsor and Volunteers. These gears all connect – each one is important to the overall operation of the museum. Each gear is individual, however they represent a common energy.

The gears are different colours and sizes. The colours represent the categories: Donor (green), Sponsor (red) and Volunteer (yellow). The sizes relate to the dollar value of the donation or sponsorship or the number of hours that were volunteered. The totals are cumulative; therefore it is possible to move up the different sizes of gears.

 Recognition Plynth

This interactive display is found in the Recognition Hall. Many of our donors, sponsors and volunteers have not yet reached a level of contribution that qualifies them for a gear. Some who already have a gear, may give another gift, however they haven’t reached the next gear level yet. These people are thanked, along with those who have received gears, with this display.

 Volunteer Pins

Volunteers at Reynolds-Alberta Museum are also presented with volunteer pins. There are five levels of pins: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Sterling Silver and 10K Gold. Each level represents a range of volunteer hours. Volunteer hours are cumulative.

In 2002, the museum designed its own volunteer pin. This replaced the Historic Resources volunteer pin. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the museum’s 10th anniversary!

There are other formal and informal ways we recognize the many gifts given to the museum, but they all mean the same thing - Thank You!
