The Friends of Reynolds-Alberta Museum Society is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to add their creative talent to our Programming and Special Events team.

The Reynolds-Alberta Museum , located 2 kilometres west of Wetaskiwin on Highway 13, is operated by Alberta Community Development.  One of the largest museums in the province, it interprets the history of mechanized transportation, aviation, agriculture and industry in Alberta .  Car pooling may be arranged.

The successful candidate will be responsible for writing, developing, and presenting Interpretive Programs for school groups and the general public.  Interpreters will be available to converse with visitors and answer questions about the Museum.  They will also assist with development and implementation of all the museum’s special events.  Interpreters will script and perform in a variety of vignettes throughout the site, research artifacts and learn important highlights of the collection that can be relayed to visitors.  The Interpreter will also act as an ambassador for the Museum both on and off-site, as well as other related duties.

Qualifications:

·         Post secondary education in the fields of Education, Performing Arts or Heritage Interpretation

·         Experience performing, speaking and presenting before large and small groups of people

·         Previous experience in public speaking or drama would be an asset

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License

Salary:   23,000 to 25,000 per annum

Volunteer Program Assistant (1)

The Friends of Reynolds-Alberta Museum Society is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to become an integral part of the Volunteer Program.

The successful candidate will provide assistance to the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources in all aspects of volunteer management, including recruitment, orientation, training, scheduling and recognition. Program management will involve developing and/or maintaining tools and procedures. The Assistant will develop and maintain strong relationships with museum staff as well as the volunteers.

The Assistant will be involved with a wide range of duties related to the museum’s special events. As part of the event team, they will assist with planning, set up, organizing and executing each event.

Qualifications/Skills:

·         Exceptional inter-personal skills

·         Ability to multi-task

·         Volunteer experience

·         Post secondary education in the field of Volunteer Management would be an asset

·         Good knowledge of MS Office programs, desktop publishing and the Internet  

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
